Minor Ailments Service

Lanarkshire Minor Ailment Service is provided by your local Pharmacy.  If you are eligible (see below) for this service and are suffering from any of the following conditions you can access advice and treatment if required from your local Pharmacists.

  • Gastro-Intestinal problems - reflux, dyspepsia, acute diarrhoea, constipation
  • Respiratory problems - coughs/colds, decongestants
  • Nausea/Vertigo
  • Fungal Infections - Vaginal Thrush, Ringworm, Athletes foot
  • Skin problems - nappy rash, dry skin, chickenpox, acne, acute urticaria, sunburn, warts, cold sore, boils
  • Headlice,Crab lice, Scabies, Worms
  • Eye Problems - conjunctivitis, hayfever, eye lubricants
  • Ear, Nose, Throat - nasal allergy, mouth ulcers teething, ear wax
  • Cystitis
  • Pain Relief

The following persons are currently ELIGIBLE for this service

  • persons under 16 yrs of age or under 19 yrs of age and in full time education
  • persons aged 60 yrs or over
  • persons who have a valid maternity, medical or war pension exemption certificate
  • persons in receipt of Income support, Income based Jobseekers Allowance, Income related Employment and Support Allowance, Pension Credit Guarantee Credit and or persons named on or are entitled to and NHS tax credit exemption certificate or a valid HC2 certificate

The following persons are NOT ELIGIBLE for this service

  • persons not included in the lists above
  • persons not registered with a Scottish GP practice/Temporary Residents
  • patients in Care Homes (Nursing and Residential Homes)
